People That Sparkle

I know it is called a candy dance but, I am trying to lose a couple of pounds so I avoided the yummy treats.

These next couple of pictures were at a booth that was so busy I am lucky I was able to get pictures. These figures are made from bicycle, and other mechanical parts.

Michael Jackson

A very cool horse.

Now the reason for the title of this post. This wonderful, 'sparkling' lady is
Cerri Noto.
I saw her booth from 20 yards away, picked up the pace and squeezed through the crowd to arrive at what would be the highlight of my day. You would think it was her work, which was amazing but, it was meeting Cerri. She makes you want to pull up a chair and stay the afternoon. She is beyond welcoming, she is funny and one of those people you cherish meeting. I wish she lived close so I could take her to lunch, selfishly of course, so that I could just listen to her some more. If you see her do yourself a favor and go talk to her, I bet you leave with one of her pieces of art so you can remember the special lady that made it.

Her work.

If you like her dolls and would like to get in touch with her her e-mail is crowsfeat@juno.com

A local shop that is a favorite of mine Pickled Tink.

AWWWWWWWW...............

I wonder how old these are?

My daughter and I loved this booth. Oh la la.....

We had a great time. I'm already looking forward to next year.

I want to thank Omi S. and her dog. Bender Oak Cannon and Plumrose Lane for becoming my followers. I am so excited when I get a new follower I do a little happy dance. I tried to send you both a personal Thank You but, I could not get it to work. So THANK YOU!!! I'm still a beginner in this glorious world of blogging. The blue writing at the top, Ya I have no idea why. Hee Hee. So much to learn.

I am going to get some work done so that I can share that with you all next time.
Till then keep dancing.........if you need inspiration check out Ellen Degeneres when she dances get up and dance it's just fun.

My Studio

First, can I just say how floored I was this week to have my first comment from an artist I have followed for years Julie Haymaker Thompson. I jumped around like a little girl when I saw she left me a comment.

Then, Jan from 'Bobbypinsboardwalk' not only commented but, signed up to be a follower. WOW! my first follower, am I dreaming this. Thank you Jan.

I bow down to the talents of these two amazing women. When you have a moment please check out their blogs and you will see what I am talking about. They are both listed under the blogs that I follow.

This week I thought I would share my favorite hang out.
My studio is always a wonderful place to walk into even on tough days. Do you have a spot, a sublime space, even if it's only a wonderful chair, that is welcoming and where you love to spend time? I'd love to hear about it.

Next, I thought I would show some of my favorite projects. This is an antique window that I dressed up and put in a location that I thought really should have had a window. You can't tell in the picture but it it back lit so I can have soft light showing through it.

In the entry of my home I have the first floorcloth I experimented with. I put it there to test out how durable it would be. That was about 3 years ago. I think it's holding up well don't you?

Next, I came across a coat rack like this in a store and they wanted $500 for it, Whew. So I thought I would try to make one.

We live by a river so I gathered the sticks. A neighbor was throwing away a set of weights so we took a few. (Added to the bottom so it won't tip over)
My husband had the wood pieces I painted on the bottom and he put it together for me, poor guy I think his honey do list grows daily. (Many details on the coat rack are not picked up by the camera)

This is my dining room table. It has the same story as the coat rack. I could not afford a $10,000 table but, I could afford a sheet of nice wood to play with and see what I could do. I still love it. (Also, prettier in person.)

These little ladies I made for Christmas for my daughter and my nieces. They are really fun to make and dress up.

I could go on and on. Pictures of mosaics, beading, junking projects (my favorite) and a few others but, I think I will leave some mystery. A girl can't show all her secrets.

One last thing. I think I will blog a little less often. I am finding out that once a week feels like to much pressure. SO, I will be here, regularly, I just have to figure out what feels natural.

Thank you for stopping at my little blog. Even if you don't leave a comment it's nice to know I had your attention for a second. .....I do love comments though.

Have a wonderful day,
Michelle

Figured it out

So it wasn't easy, but with lots of help from my husband, here they are. Pictures of my darling daughter Kenya, wearing the necklaces that I have been learning how to make. I still have some learn'in to do but, I am making progress. Kenya has helped me attach the beads and string the necklaces. (She has decided to keep the two she is modeling here, the ultimate compliment don't you think?)

Here is a close up. I love using the comics in the creation of my necklaces.

Thank you to my sweet daughter for volunteering to model my necklaces and a huge THANK YOU to my wonderful, gorgeous husband for not loosing your patience with me. I am really not computer savvy.

One other mile stone for our family this week. My 15 1/2 year old son tested for his driving permit and he passed his first time out. Congratulations Kaymin! I wanted to post his picture too but, he is bushed from Band camp this week.

Now that I can share pictures I will post more of the projects I have worked on. I am also going to explore other blogs and start making comments this week. I haven't in the past because I have always thought, 'they don't really care that I think their purple, green and rusty sign is the coolest,' but, I always like to read others posts so it's time to dive in.

I have also realized giving crafting tips every week is a bad idea so I am crumpling up that and tossing it out.

Put on your boogie shoes on and dance a little,

Michelle

Here I am

I was determined to not let another week go by without posting on my blog. So here I am. Starting again. Life has been very busy but, I am not going to make anymore excuses why I can not post every week.

Now, for what I have been up to. I saved my pennies and dimes last year and purchased all the soldering supplies I could ever need and they sat in the cute little suit case I bought to store them in. There they sat.

After nursing my wonderful hubby back to health (he tore his Achilles Tendon in a charity basketball game...ugh. No good deed right??) I needed to dive into something crafty and quick. I have not mastered soldering but, I am having a blast learning.

SO, over this next week I am going to learn something else. How to upload pictures from my camera and post some pictures of my not to perfect pendants. I am also going to post my picture in the profile area.

My crafty tip this week?

When you have stared at a project for to long and you just can't stand it. Walk away, come back the next day. Overnight the crafting fairy will sprinkle her dust on your project, she almost always makes things better.

Keep dancing,

Michelle

My Wish

I'm at the beginning of my blogging adventures and wow do I have alot to learn. I've read a couple of Artful Blogging Magazines by Stampington. One of the articles, in Spring 2008, Julie Collings mentions making a wish and setting it free so that it may come true. (www.theadventuresofbluegirlxo.blogspot.com) Was I supposed to put a link to that? How do I put a link? By typing that will my computer do that cool thing where you click on it and it takes you there to that site? Is that what a link is? See, ALOT to learn.)

So.....for my first entry I am making a wish. It is actually the same one that Ms. Collings stated in her article.
I wish for an Art Group.
One with women that would like to get together and share ideas, share food, share belly laughter so hard it gives us six packs. All right I might have gone a bit far with the six pack comment but, my point is that I am starving for friends that would like to talk crafts. My current friends either don't have the time or interest. I don't mind if you live out of my area. Blogland would be a new way for me to interact too. So, if anyone stumbles onto my little blog and thinks it might be fun just let me know and I am open to ideas.

I wanted to give crafting tips every time I blog but the only one I could think of is don't grab a soldering iron by the wrong end, so I'll give you one of my favorite things to do.
Everyday I dance for ten minutes. You might be amazed at what a mood lifter it can be to shake your booty to music you like for only ten minutes. Hey and at the end of a week you've boogied for 70 minutes, not to bad huh?

Thanks for coming by. My goal is to blog at least once a week.

Have a silly,giggly week,
Michelle
